Description

Fempro is used mainly with other medications to treat certain types of breast cancer (e.g., hormone-receptor-positive breast cancer) in women after menopause. Fempro is also used to help prevent the cancer from returning. Some breast cancers are made due to grow faster by a natural hormone in women’s body called estrogen. Fempro decreases the amount of estrogen made by the body and helps to slow or reverse the growth of these breast cancers.

No dosage adjustment is recommended for patients with mild or moderate hepatic impairment, although Fempro blood concentrations were modestly increased in subjects with moderate impairment due to cirrhosis. The dose of Fempro in patients with cirrhosis and severe hepatic dysfunction should be reduced by 50%. The recommended dose for such patients is 2.5 mg administered every other day.

Ask from your doctor and pharmacist if you are allergic to Fempro, any other medications, or any of the inactive ingredients in Fempro tablets. You should know that Fempro should only be used by women who have experienced menopause and cannot become pregnant. However, if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, you should tell your doctor before you begin taking this medication. Use a reliable method of birth control to prevent pregnancy during your treatment. Fempro may harm the fetus. You should know that Fempro may make you drowsy. Do not drive a car or operate machinery until you know how this medication affects you.

The recommended dose of Fempro tablets is one 2.5 mg tablet administered once daily with or without food. No dose adjustment is required for elderly patients.

Fempro side effects are: hot flushes, night sweats, nausea, vomiting, muscle, joint, or bone pain, excessive tiredness, headache, dizziness, muscle weakness and more.

Isolated cases of Fempro overdose have been reported. In these instances, the highest single dose ingested was 62.5 mg or 25 tablets. No serious adverse events were reported in these cases.
